Q: What is refill too soon & why can't I get my refill now? A: When a prescription is billed to an insurance company (also known as a PBM or pharmacy benefit management group) it is a requirement that we bill the claim with a specific days supply. For example, if we dispense a quantity of 30 atenolol with directions of one tablet daily then the days supply is 30. If the pharmacy tries to bill this again before those 30 days have gone by we will be rejected. Common exceptions to this are in the case of directions changing or vacation supplies. In these cases we often can call your insurance company and work through these issues. |
